Tom (Jackson, ACSO Ensign Yeates - Day 15 - 1952) ============ (USS Soval, Bridge, ACSO Ensign Yeates - 0823) Ensign Yeates Remained on the bridge during the meeting with the captain in order to keep working on the current situation, which was important that it was resolved. The Ensign was going through Algorithms on the console when suddenly the console beeped indicating there was a change with the probe that he had launched earlier. I tapped a key on the console and the probe data showed up on the screen. The probe had picked up an energy spike of some kind from within the anomaly. Normally this kind of phenomenon would have puzzled most people but the ensign studied Deep space telemetry with the vulcans which included to expect anything. Ensign Yeates tapped another few buttons and launched a secondary probe so he could get two sets of data to make sure it was correct and that the first probe wasn't malfunctioning due to close proximity to the anomaly. After a few short minutes the data from the second probe appeared and proved that the information was indeed correct. Then Suddenly there was a bright flash of light as the entire ship was engulfed in a beam of somekind. One of the Crewman that was on the bridge mentioned that she had a feeling that she had experienced before when the ship first came into contact with the anomaly. The Ensign was puzzled by her statement due to not remembering the first encounter but could still admit something felt different when the light subsided. During this time someone had activated red alert and the klaxon was blaring. The ensign quickly checked the ships long range sensors. At this time Captain Syuvik walked onto the bridge asking Ensign Yeates for a Status Report. (Reply Syuvik) (Posted by Yeates) ============ (USS Soval - Bridge - CO Captain Syuvik - 0827) Syuvik was still in a meeting when the red alert was activated. Not knowing what was happening was causing a disconfort. He had to pause the meeting and go to the bridge to found out what was happening. At least, most of the officers on the bridge were calm. So, it wasn't something life threatening. Yet he wondered what was the cause of this precaution. And it seemed, the person who was the best placed to know was Ensign Yeates. "Ensign Yeates, report. What is going on and do you who and why was the red alert activated?" (Reply Yeates) (Posted by Nick) ============ (USS Soval - Bridge - ACSO Ensign Yeates - 0830) "Ensign Yeates, report. What is going on and do you who and why was the red alert activated?" Asked Captain Syuvik. The Ensign Tapped a few more button before turning around and Answering the Captain. " You Didn't Notice the bright flash of light? It was like a beam coming from the anomaly and it engulfed the entire ship for 5 minutes. Then it dissipated. As the current most Senior officer on the bridge I ordered the Red alert until i could figure out what that light was and what it did." (Reply Syuvik) " Sir it feels like we shifted. Before the flash there was that feeling that everything was wrong. That was due to being in a parallel universe where we didn't belong.... but afterwards the feeling was gone. Sir I made me think, Could it be possible we were just sent back to our own universe. I recommend we check to make sure all crew are accounted for. The missing Crewmen may be back. (Reply Syuvik) (posted by yeates) ============ (USS Soval - Bridge - ACSO Ensign Yeates - 0841) After Sending a message the Captain looked back at Ensign Yeates and Said "Ensign, when you know more about the....beam.... contact me." The Ensign Replied " Yes Sir " and quickly got back to work and began decompiling the Data received from the probes. ~ According to this the beam came from the Center of the anomaly.... hmm. Before the Ensign could ponder any more on it new information suddenly appeared on the screen. He scrolled through it still not any closer to figuring out the beam. ~ Might have to pull an all nighter. The Ensign thought with a sigh. Suddenly something dawned on the ensign, The readings looked familiar and he realized it looked similar to the reading received when using the tractor beam. Further analysis proved he was correct when he open up the data more closely and brought up a record of current data for the tractor beam and it was a match albeit different in a way , then noticing it was inline with a transport beam as well. Think of it this way, The Tractor beam gives off data that in a way is like a pattern. Same applies with the Transported beam. So what the ensign was looking at was a new pattern with the tractor beam pattern and the Transporter beam pattern merged together with some additional bit and bobs that was yet unknown to the ensign. Since all this no one seemed to notice that the Anomaly was gone. So when the Ensign looked at the view screen he was flabbergasted as their co-ordinates have not changed. Ensign Yeates added all this new information to a datapad. As he was about to walk towards the Captains Ready room when he had gone. There was a beeping and one of the crewmen announced we were being Hailed. At that the ensign thought it best to retrieve to captain again. The ensign walked to the captains ready room and pressed the door chime and waited for an answer before entering. " Sir sorry for bothering you again but we are being hailed" (Reply Syuvik) (posted by Yeates) ============ (USS Soval - Turbo Lift 3 - FO Commander Matrix, CEO LT.JG Brown, - 0843) Having left their impromptu meeting in main engineering with a rush, Matrix and Brown hurried into the nearest turbo lift as the red alert klaxon pieced the quiet calm of the Soval. Matrix was unaware of any pending situation and he kicked himself for not being on the bridge. He knew the Captain was attending to other matters and was away. "Bridge!" ordered Matrix as the turbo lift doors took an eternity to close. "Damn it!" said Matrix aloud. "What the hell?" he continued. Brown was mildly surprised at the intensity of the normally unflappable Matrix. Of course, Dan reflected, as the First Officer he no doubt felt an immense personal responsibility for anything that happened. "Sir, I can tell you what it's *not*, if that helps," began Brown as he pulled a PADD from his pocket. "It is not, as far as I can tell, any sort of engineering casualty... all systems appear nominal. We've got the expected uptick in energy demand, and matching increases in generated power. Phaser capacitors are charging, shield generators coming on line... EPS system functioning as expected." He tabbed to another display and went on. "Navigational deflectors didn't step up, so they didn't sense any direct threats. Maybe not helpful, but maybe slightly reassuring?" Pondering the new information Lieutenant Brown provided, Matrix tapped his commbadge, "Matrix to the bridge. Report...Report!" Nothing came from the bridge. Looking to Lieutenant Brown, "I saw nothing on the boards nor the threat index...something unexpected must have happened." said Matrix. Dan frowned deeply at that, and consulted his PADD again. "Uh oh. Comm system appears to be up sir.... why wouldn't they answer?" A few moments later the turbolift finally deposited the two on the bridge. Ensign Yeates was busy assessing the situation and seemed quite confident and proficient in doing so. The main view screen was focused a familiar looking anomaly. It was not moving nor changing its state. With no immediately apparent threat to the ship or crew, Matrix didn't announce himself, but let Mr. Yeates continue with his command of the bridge. He stood behind the command chair and observed the young ensign work. Motioning to Brown, they moved quietly over to the status panel behind the command console and reviewed the ships status on the summary board. Dan dutifully followed Matrix. As the First Officer scanned the status board, Brown brought up the master situation monitor display on the bridge engineering station. He was immediately puzzled by what he saw. "Sir, I *thought* we navigated *away* from the anomaly?" he asked in a soft whisper. "From what I'm seeing here, it seems the ship was struck... well, more accurately, 'bathed' in some sort of energy beam... for several minutes. Origin was the general area of the anomaly, it appears. I can't further localize it yet, as you know, the anomaly itself does, and somehow doesn't, register on conventional scans. It's like trying to quantify infinity." ~Or capture a ghost,~ he thought but didn't vocalize "You're correct Dan...we were traveling away from the anomaly." ~Good god where are we going to end up next?~ thought Matrix. (Reply any) (Posted by Steve & Russ) ============ (USS Soval - Bridge - Commander Matrix - 0845) Matrix cleared his throat in an attempt not to startle anyone on the bridge. "Mister Yeates do you feel this situation warrants raising sheilds?" (Reply Yeates) "It would seem the anomaly has already engulfed the ship and we dont' appear to be moving or in any immediate danger." replied Matrix. Matrix moved over the the center chair and looked at Mister Yeates directly, "What should our next move be?" hoping to get additional information out of the young officer. "Helm...back us off from the anomaly...steady as she goes. Ensign Yeates...your assessment of the treat posture of the anomaly?" with that Matrix felt the Soval surge slightly forward. The inertial dampers weren't prepared for the sudden change in direction and momentum. The movement wasn't violent, but unexpected. Clearly something had a grasp on the Soval. "SHIELDS!" (Reply Yeates, Brown - IYW) Matrix tapped his commbadge. "Yellow alert!" Unconsciously Matrix took his place in the center chair and reassessed their options. If this was the same anomaly that projected them in time, they would have little chance of avoiding the event a second time. Matrix looked at Lieutenant Brown for input and options. The engineer was extremely resourceful and likely had a number of scenarios thought out. He was expecting the worst, but this could be something as simple as an alien probe taking in information. Or a natural phenomenon in this region of space. "Options?" (Reply Yeates, Brown) (Posted by Steve) ============ (USS Soval - Bridge - ACSO Ensign Yeates - 0855) "Mister Yeates do you feel this situation warrants raising sheilds?" Suddenly Ensign Yeates had a big grin on his face and said " I just finished Scans of the ship and the surrounding space and I just picked up Planet Quazal of the port side" The ensign tapped a few buttons and brought up an image of the planet on the viewscreen. (Reply Matrix, Brown ) (Posted by yeates) ============ (USS Soval - Bridge - CEO Lt(jg) Brown - 1057) Quite a bit had happened in very short order. None of it was to Brown's liking -- but that had absolutely no bearing on Commander Matrix's spoken question. Dan glanced over the engineering displays quickly, and caught the First Officer looking in his direction. He also couldn't help but notice the delight in Ensign Yeates' tone when he'd reported finding Quezal. Dan couldn't fathom *why* that would cause such a happy reaction; it had precisely the reverse effect on his mood. He spoke, directing his gaze at Matrix. "Sir, I can confirm Mister Yeates' report," he began as the image of Quezal sprang onto the main viewscreen. "A quick diagnostic confirms that sensors appear to be functioning normally, and that certainly *appears* to be Quezal. If we are in the vicinity, I suspect we'll know shortly. As to when...." He paused again. Science or tactical were far better equipped to make that call. "As to when... I'm attempting to sync with Fleet time beacons now sir. However, I submit if we're here pre-disaster, they should be hailing us shortly. If we're here post-disaster, then where's the relief operation? Or the Romulan ships that were sniffing our tail in the shuttle for that matter?" (Reply any) Dan turned back toward the engineering station, playing the controls skillfully. "I am pleased to report that the Soval appears as fully functional as she was a few moments ago Commander. As to options, we've got several. They've likely all crossed your mind already I suspect. We can approach, scan, run, or do nothing at all. I'd recommend extreme caution sir, until we sort this out. It's really bad form for an officer to admit it, but I certainly wasn't expecting this turn of events, and I believe we have far more questions than answers at this juncture." They were starting to appear with an eerie regularity. Captain Syuvik spoke "Commander, I absolutely need to prepare the away team. Since we have retreated from the anomaly and I no longer need your for this task, I'm giving you this new one. Look over every officer that appeared on our ship, make sure they are medically and psychologically evaluated by Lieutenant-Commander Noah and Lieutenant Bruce. When you have both evaluation, I would like for you, Lieutenant Signos and, if she has time between evaluations, Lieutenant Bruce to make a security risk assessment for each one and if they are not considered a threat, supervise their integration into our crew. In that process, feel free to answer any of their question and, if they ask what is going to happen to them, explain them we have a more pressing mission to attend to before we could start looking for scientific answers as to how to send them back to their reality. Following Lieutenant Bruce recommendation, it was decided to not give extra shifts to the crew, so must of them had the night off. But that wasn't Jennifer case. Her information and insight were needed, and she didn't wanted to leave her friend, Syuvik, alone. There were more in two heads than one. But they were interrupted by a security officer. "Sir, ma'am. I thought you would want to know Ensign Rozen is back on the bridge." Jennifer exchanged a look to Syuvik. "You have already cleared her?" "No, but I did gave Lieutenant-Commander Jackson autorisation if they were approved by Lieutenant Bruce, Lieutenant-Commander Noah and Lieutenant Signos. I didn't expected they would be so quick." Jennifer couldn't believe it. "There is something wrong with this woman. Where does she thinks she is?" "It is possible in her reality, Starfleet is very different from ours. We have a lot of protocols to follow. Even for the captain. We are thought to act in very specific ways. We are used to be told what we can and cannot do, but in other reality it could be different. Those protocols may not be in place. In such case, autority and who you are affiliated to could be more important than your function and your rank. As a Yeoman, she could have a lot of autority and freedom to carry out the tasks her captain give her." Syuvik said, trying to look at this in a logical manner. Jennifer didn't liked the answer. "Honestly, I don't care that is what she does in her reality. She is now in our reality and she must comply. I can't believe you will let her do as she pleased." "Jennifer, you were speaking of protocole, and see that way you are talking to me." "Yes, but this is not the same. We are friend and we are in private." "Yes, but we are on duty." Syuvik replied. Sure he'd been through a lot today, but until now he was calm and confident, even when introducing himself to the captain. It seemed there was something about Jessica that threw him off balance. "Theta leader I want Ensign Rozen found and confined to fresh quarters. Gamma I want a complete search of her quarters and all personal belongings conducted at once. At no time is she to be talked to or questioned about the search or seizure." Her voice was serious but there was also a sadness to it. It seemed the more she tired to distance herself from her past it always came back to haunt her. She pressed the actuator to announce her presence. When the doors opened she entered with Alex close behind. She walked up to the captain's desk. "Sir's" she addressed both the Captain and the FO. He understood perfectly the captain's reluctance to put him to work immediately. Some kind of anomaly had dumped thirteen people onto the Soval and some of them, including Alex, were totally unknown. It made sense to take the time to vet the newcomers before giving them the run of the ship. Suddenly his communicator chirped. =/\= Ensign Hartmann, report to the counselor’s office asap. =/\= Alex sighed again and sat up.
